What are the contents in the Monthly bill ?


Ans : The monthly bill contains consumers identity, meter readings, unit consumed, billed amount, due date of payment, arrears due, surcharge VAT amount and other bill related information.

 

Q. How to calculate the billed amount ?

Ans : Calculation is different for each category of consumer. Please click your particular tariff to see the sample calculation as per application tariff (as on Sept'03) A B C D E F The tariff rate is changeable time to time by the Government.

Q. How to calculate the surcharge ?

Ans : If the bill is not paid within due date, the surcharge will be levied & calculated @ 2% per month and for fraction there of on billed amount from due date of payment.


 

Q. How to calculate the VAT ?

Ans : VAT is calculated @ 5% on the unit cost.

 

Q. Can I pay my bill in Cheque ? If so, to whom it is payable ?

Ans : Only H.T. Consumers can pay the bill by A/C payee cheque. The cheque should be encashed before due date, otherwise surcharge will be levied. The cheque is to be made payable to the Addl. Director, RAO, DESA.


 

Q. Can I pay my bill by Credit card ?

Ans : Not at present; but it may be possible in future.

 

Q. How can I confirm payment ?

Ans : Please see your Ledger one month after the date of your payment; If found any discrepancy, lodge a Complaint online.
 

Q. How can I see arrears against my accounts.

Ans : Please check your ledger online.


 

Q. Can I view my bill online ?

Ans : Yes, you can view your Bill  on line.

Q. Can I download/print my bill from Web & pay my bill ?

Ans : Yes, you can download and print your bill from Web, but you can not pay.

 

Q. Can I pay my bill after due date ?

Ans : Yes, you can pay within next one month from due date, but due surcharge will be incorporated in your next bill.


 

Q. How do I solve my billing problem ?

Ans : You can submit your complaint online by clicking Consumer Complaints. or contact the concerned S&D Division.


 

Q. If I pay more money than the billed amount, how it will be adjusted ?

Ans : It will be adjusted with subsequent bill.(s)


 

Q. Why estimated bill is issued ?

Ans : Your meter is defective or there is no meter or your meter reading was not collected. For details you may lodge complaint online by clicking Consumer Complaints.

Q. Last reading shown in the bill is more than the actual meter reading, why ?


Ans : It may be due to the bill issued on estimation basis or may be due to insertion of wrong meter reading. To solve, please lodge complaint online by clicking Consumer Complaints.
 

Q. What to do, if I get more than one bill for the same account ?


Ans : To solve, please submit your complaint with details online by clicking Consumer Complaints or application stating the fact to submit concerned S&D Division.

Q. Bills for different accounts received of same holding with different due date, why ?


Ans : It is due to different bill group for preparing bill. To solve problem, please lodge complaint online by clicking Consumer Complaints

 

Q. Why I get a bill of wrong tariff or the tariff has been changed ?

Ans : It may be due to wrong tariff code recorded in the consumer census document or the concerned S&D Division found change of type of use by you. You may lodge or incorrect your complaint online by clicking consumer complaints

 

Q. How to correct, if there is wrong spelling of consumer name address in the bill ?

Ans : Please submit your complaint online by clicking consumer complaints and provide correct spelling.

 

Q. What is Peak/Off peak meter reading ?

Ans : This is applicable for tariff of two different rates, one for peak time (17:00 hrs to 23:00 hrs) and other for off peak time (23:00 hrs to 05:00 hrs) use. Energy used during these two different time period recorded separately in the same meter are called Peak/Off-peak reading.

 

Q. Additional load has been sanctioned but not yet included in the bill, Why & What to do ?

Ans : May be you have not yet paid the Security deposit or you have paid but not informed the concerned S&D office or it may so happen that the data base has not yet been updated. Please submit your complaint online by clicking consumer complaints mentioning the Security deposit bill no & payment date with Bank details.

Q. No reading shown in the bill, why ?

Ans : There is a good meter but estimated bill has been issued. Please submit your complaint online by clicking consumer complaints with actual meter reading and date of the reading.

 

Q. Incorrect meter number in the bill, why & what to do?

Ans : May be wrong entry in data base or may be the meter has been changed but not updated is the data base. Please submit your complaint online by clicking consumer complaints with details.

 

Q. Bill(s) received after due date or 2/3 days before the due date, what to do?

Ans : Please pay your bill and submit your complaint online by clicking consumer complaints to get the bill in time. If possible please contact concerned Sales & Distribution Division office to ensure receipt of the bill(s) well ahead of due date.

 

Q. What is Power factor?

Ans : There is a line gap between the flow of current and voltage in electricity. This time gap is determined in the form of angle (in degree). Power factor is the Cosine of the angle between Voltage and current.

 

Q. What is Power Factor Correction (PFC) charge ?

Ans : As per electricity tariff, the consumer should keep his average power factor in between 0.95 to 1.0. If power factor is lower then 0.95 the loss in providing your supply by the utility department is very high. To compensate this loss by the consumer, an extra charge is levied as Power Factor Correction charge (PFC).

Q. How the Power Factor Correction (PFC) charge is calculated ?


 

Q. How can I get rid of the power factor correction charge?

Ans : You can minimize the PFC charges by installing automatic power factor improvement plant of appropriate capacity at your load side. In this regard you may contact concerned S&D. Division for technical consultation service. 

 

Q. How can I get rid of the accumulated unit billing?

Ans : When you get the bill in each month, please compare the meter reading in the bill with the actual meter reading. If reading found is OK, please pay the bill. If any minor discrepancy found please pay the bill or submit your complaint online by clicking consumer complaints specifying your concern about reading & date. To avoid future accumulated reading, please check and keep a record of your monthly meter reading and compare with your monthly bill. Also ensure, The meter reader writes the meter reading card with meter. 

 

Q. What is Maximum demand mentioned in HT category bill ?

Ans : It is the highest load drawn in a particular time period in a month.

 

Q. How the Maximum demand is determined ?

Ans : It is recorded by the meter itself. But where the meter have no facility to record or in absence of Demand recording facilities in the meter, the Maximum Demand is calculated as follow: 100% of 1 st 75 KW of connected load 85% of next 75 KW of connected load 75% of next 75 KW of connected load 65% of next 75 KW of connected load 60% of next balance KW of connected load

Q. What is Sanctioned load ?

Ans : The electrical load in KW sanctioned by the authority.

Q. What is connected load ?

Ans : The connected load is the summation of all the loads (or facilities) that average found to be installed at the consumer premises.

Q. Is the sanctioned load and connected load should be same ?

Ans : The sanctioned load should always be more than or equal to connected load .

Q. I like to extend my load, what to do ?

Ans : Please go to consumer service Application Procedure for Extension of load and follow the guide line.

Q. I applied for New Connection/Extension of load, but I am not getting the response, what to do ?
